Kittens are surrendered on a regular basis, quite often in whole litters.
When kittens are surrendered, we ensure that if they have come from an owned pet, the mother of the kittens is de-sexed (spayed or neutered) to prevent the cycle from continuing. We need your help in supporting the 400+ animals we have surrendered each year. All kittens are treated for worms and fleas when they arrive at the shelter. We also ensure that they are de-sexed before being re-homed.
All kittens for adoption are between are under 6 months, but most are 12-20 weeks old. As kittens (as are all our animals) are up to date with their treatments of intestinal worms, fleas, and ticks, which the new owner will have to maintained post-adoption.
The adoption fee is FJ $50 per animal and includes a starter pack of flea and worming prevention. Adoption fees are subsidised to make the cost of adopting a pet affordable to members of our community. The actual costs to us on average is FJ $350 per animal during their time in our shelter including de-sex, vaccination, preventative treatments and food, this is what your sponsorship will go towards.
